c. 1863

Frank Leslie's Magazine. Original dress of blue merino. Front breadth is cut to form a pointed belt. Bottom of skirt has box-quilled ruffle, headed by a row of black velvet, then two rows of narrow black velvet, above which is trimming to match the edge of skirt. Spanish jacket trimmed en suite. Underbody of fine muslin, with full sleeves gathered into a band. Narrow-fluted ruffle around the neck. Pockets on skirt.

Boy's 2-Piece Set with cap, c. 1863

Frank Leslie’s Magazine. Vest sacque, and pantaloons of drab cloth trimmed with red velvet for a boy of six or seven years old. Matching cap of drab cloth with same red trim. Jacket has front button closure, two front pockets, and waistline buttoned belt.

Boy's 4-Piece Set, 
c. 1863

Frank Leslie’s Magazine. Jacket, vest, short pants and hat. Edged and trimmed all around with black galloon. Pantaloons, closed on the hips, button with 3 buttons on each side, to the underwaist. The waistcoat, with steel buttons, has a strap and buckle. The jacket is open, but buttoned at the neck, and has a small coat sleeve. For the young man (ages 8-12) dressing up in stylish, civilian 1860's style.
