Patterns of Fashion. Made of silk taffeta trimmed with fringe made from faille cloth after pulling threads to make a rich 3" fringe. Lace & silk covered buttons.

Diane, c. 1862

Worth original engraving. Made of black silk, with five small flounces of crape. The second skirt is trimmed with narrow flounces of crape, put on in festoons, and ornamented with lozenges of crape. The sleeve is flowing, and trimmed to correspond.

Victoria, c. 1860-65

Milwaukee Public Museum Collection. Original dress of a silvery gray silk taffeta. All ½ circle petals were bound with bias made from the same silk fabric. Fragments of a lace collar are still attached to the neckline.
